Common questions
How is WPM calculated?
Words per minute counts every 5 correctly typed characters (spaces included) as one word, divided by the minutes taken. Mistakes don't count, so accuracy matters. Raw speed counts everything you typed.
What is a good typing speed?
Most people type 35–45 WPM. 60 WPM is fast and enough for almost any job, 80+ is professional level, and 100+ WPM is rare. Aim for 95% accuracy or better before chasing speed.
Are my scores saved?
Your personal bests are saved in this browser on this device only. They aren't sent anywhere, and clearing your browser data removes them.
How do I challenge a friend?
After a test, click Share & challenge. Your friend gets a link that shows your score and lets them try to beat it.
Does it work on phones?
Yes. Tap the text to open your keyboard. Phone keyboards are slower than physical ones, so compare scores on the same kind of device.
